My name is Christina. I am a mother to two boys and I’ve been living in the greater Sydney area all my life. Ever since I was little, I dreamed of living on a large farm, to have space to put my horses and to experience the country life. It’s been quietly sitting in the back of my mind, occasionally surfacing to give me a gentle tug in the right direction, to get the ball rolling. Up until now, circumstance hasn’t allowed me to fulfill this dream. But now, it seems that the moment is right to take the first baby steps towards living the dream. As I’ve gotten older, this dream has extended to a deep yearning to live a life of self-sufficiency, be environmentally mindful in all activities of living, and to be able to make money through growing stock/crops and ecotourism.
My husband Matt shares my dream (luckily) and together we hope to create our own little sanctuary which employs sustainable farming practices and is in line with ethical animal growth and management.
It is October 2016 and we have just decided on a time frame as to when this move will take place. There are still lots of things to plan, lots of research to do, work to do on the house to maximise our sale price and lots of money to earn in the meantime! We estimate between 12 and 18 months is what we need to get ourselves organised. We only want to do one move, and this move must fit in with the vision that we have. We will need to visit potential areas to live and these areas need to be within a four hour radius of Sydney, as we will be leaving behind children with our prospective ex-spouses.
This is our story, a story which chronicles our transition from living in the outskirts of Sydney, to ultimately living a life of self-sufficiency and sustainability on a large property.
